Dilma Rousseff, President of the New Development Bank (NDB) and President of the Federative Republic of Brazil from 2011 to 2016, attended the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2024 and had an exclusive talk with SFC journalist.

Commenting on the historic BRICS expansion and its influences, Rousseff said “it's important to understand that we begin with five. Now, we just are ten and is probably that the expansion is accelerated, because many countries want to enter in the BRICS. I think it’s a very important strength in the world. ”

“Why? Because we are in a moment of transition,” she added. “In my point of view, the old order doesn't die and the new one doesn't live completely. We are in a moment of transition.”

In terms of NDB, she explained “there is a BRICS mechanism, there is a bank. The BRICS mechanism is in the geopolitical situation and the bank is a financial one. ”
